There hasn’t been this much hype for a movie since “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame" is set to break some new records before it even opens.

The studio's ultimate superhero adventure is set to kickoff the summer box office season with a surge in theater attendance where analysts are already projecting up to $140 million in pre-sales, and it could go even higher. AMC may even be opening theaters for 24 hours a day to cope with the demand over the weekend.

Opening this Thursday, “Avengers: Endgame” will unite a star-studded cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson playing Black Widow along with some familiar faces.

Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the picture started production in 2017 and was filmed back-to-back with Marvel’s “Infinity War.” The new sequel will be a staggering 181 minutes (3 hours 1 minute) long, promising fans of the franchise an epic outing they will not forget.

This time, after half of all life in the universe has been obliterated following “Avengers: Infinity War” the remaining Avengers ensemble must make one last stand with all their allies to prevail.

The official trailer for the movie has been watched over 93 million times, but we have yet to see what critics think with the review embargo still in full force until release.

“Avengers: Endgame” may have already taken the lead in pre-sales compared to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" but it will have to gross over $936 million domestically and $1.1 billion in overseas markets before it has a chance to cross the $2 billion mark. It might just get there and set a host of records in the process.
