The AK-47 rifle in the movies

Mikhail Kalashnikov, the Russian inventor of the world famous AK-47 rifle has died at the age of 94, but his work, will certainly be remembered.

Having designed his own machine gun during WW2, Kalashnikov's prominence came after several years, with new adjustments made to his original design. The AK-47 became a benchmark weapon in many wars, and is still used today.

It's prominence was so influential that it made its way into a cult movie classic. That film was called 'Jackie Brown'. Shot by director Quentin Tarantino and released in 1997, a memorable scene in the movie, with the help of actor Samuel L Jackson, depicts the AK-47 as "the best there is".
