James Cameron confirms Edward Furlong will be back in Terminator: Dark Fate

Arnold Schwarzenegger will be joined by Edward Furlong in “Terminator: Dark Fate” it has been announced. James Cameron, who is producing the new Terminator film revealed today at the San Diego Comic-Con that character John Connor (played by Edward Furlong) will be part of the new film.

Also making an appearance at today’s event is Linda Hamilton who plays Sarah Connor in the upcoming film, which is set after the events of “Terminator 2” and will bring back several cast members from the 2nd movie, which to-date is the most successful in the franchise's history.

In fact, “Terminator 2” is considered one of the best movie sequels of all time, and brought a new dimension to the Terminator franchise following the events of the original which came out in 1984. The sequel grossed $520 million worldwide and opened July 3, 1991.

“Terminator: Dark Fate” will be released later this year, setting a different course for the Terminator franchise from the last 3 movies that have underperformed and not met fan expectations. The latest film is directed by Tim Miller with the screenplay written by David Goyer (Blade, The Dark Knight).

The Terminator movies have grossed over $1 billion globally, and while the previous film, “Genisys” received mixed reviews, it did well in international markets and outperformed "Terminator Salvation" with Christian Bale.
