Sasha will play Sabrina, a single working mother whose life has been turned upside down following her daughters' school closure, due to yet another lockdown. Sabrina has to quickly learn how to juggle between work, homeschooling & being a compassionate mother, but things are starting to take their toll. Sasha is best known for her role in HBO/BBC hit TV adaption of His Dark Materials and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Theatre includes ‘Our Country’s Good’ at the Tobacco Factory, ‘The Lighting Child’ at The GlobeTheatre and ‘Suspension’ at Bristol Old Vic.

Rising star Keira Chansa will also join as Amelie, the eldest daughter whose final year of primary school is being interrupted. She notices the mental effects the lockdowns are having on her mother. Keira is best known for her Junior leading role in ‘Come Away’, a live action feature directed by Oscar-winning Brenda Chapman and starring Angelina Jolie and Michael Cain, Chansa’s credits also include ‘The Irregular’ on Netflix, Amazon series ‘The Wheel of Time’ and National Theatre play ‘Small Island’.

Completing the family, Mimi Soetan will play Mackenzie, the youngest daughter, whose eager energy and enthusiasm is the beacon of hope in the house. Mimi’s credits include small appearances on Eastenders.

The film is written & directed by award-winning independent screenwriter Kieran Bourne (writer of BAFTA & Oscar-qualifying short film ‘I Am Pilate’) who is also a director of Film, TV and Theatre. He explains his reason behind the film;

“The psychological impact on adults, parents and children and the obvious effects on mental health due to the pandemic is a topic that needs to be treated carefully and seriously. My ambition is that this film will allow people and families to know that what they went through has not been ignored, unseen or unheard."

“All is Mum” is the sixth production by London based Candid Broad Productions, who are in the midst of a busy year, with 10 productions on the go. Gender imbalance in the film industry is a paradigm that Candid Broads has been working to shift from within its London scene since its launch in 2020. As founder Oriane Pick explains;

“Our mission is to bring fresh and original female-led stories and bold characters to the screen. We hope to empower & amplify female voices within film. To bring fierce & unheard female voices to the front row”

Reflecting this female-led mission, the production company supports full diversity in front of and behind the camera. For every project Candid Broads embarks on, they ensure that 85% of their cast and/or crew are female-identifying and represent BAME backgrounds:

“We want to give a voice and opportunities to those groups that have so far been underrepresented in the film industry. Our focus is to encourage bold, emerging talent and filmmakers who don’t let conventions get in their way of their creativity”.
