Stephen King film adaptation “IT Chapter Two” is taking the number 1 spot at the box office this weekend for the second time following its impressive opening.

“IT Chapter Two” is projected to gross over $40m in North America, meaning its overall box office gross will exceed $150m, placing it around $153.5m at current estimates and totalling over $320m globally.

The sequel to “IT Chapter One” received positive reviews, and comes 2 years after the first movie back in 2017 which grossed more than $700m worldwide and was directed by Andy Muschietti.

“IT Chapter Two” takes place 27 years after the events from the first movie and stars James McAvoy, Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, Isaiah Mustafa, Andy Bean and Jay Ryan. Muschietti returns to direct the second picture which was distributed by Warner Bros earlier this month.

Although critics have been less enthusiastic for the horror sequel, audiences have rated it highly, matching the original with a 7/10 on IMDB. The film was released earlier this month taking in $91m on its box office opening weekend.
