2013 BIFA nominees announced including Judi Dench and James McAvoy By FIN Staff / 11 November 2013 2013 BIFA Film Awards nominations The British Independent Film Awards have announced this year's nominees including the likes of Judi Dench, Jim Broadbent and James McAvoy. Announced today by Ewan McGregor, the 2013 BIFA Awards nomination categories including Best British Independent Film, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Screenplay and Best Director. This year, 'Starred Up' has received 8 nominations, the highest number for the 2013 selection. David Mackenzie is up for Best Director, whist Jack O'Connell is nominated for Best Actor. Judi Dench is nominated for Best Actress in 'Philomena' whilst Tom Hardy and Steve Coogan are also nominated in the Best Actor category. More than 200 films were viewed by an independent jury before choosing this year's nominees. This year's Jury chair includes Art Malik, Liza Marshall, Steve Hamilton Shaw, Sandy Powell, MyAnna Buring, James Floyd, Bart Layton, Penny Woolcock, Antonia Campbell-Hughes among other respected film industry professionals.
