Tom Cruise is gearing up to shoot ‘Oblivion’ which takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where humans live above the clouds.

The end of the world has been a subject of huge interest as our fascination with doomsday prophecies continues, such as the Mayan calendar predictions and today’s ‘doom’.

While the world didn’t end today, May 21st, Tom Cruise will survive to shoot Universal’s Sci-Fi action thriller, which will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, behind TRON: Legacy.

In the movie, Tom Cruise portrays a soldier who is sent down to earth on a mission to repair drones and probes patrolling the wastelands that seek out and destroy a lethal alien race.

However, Tom Cruise’s character soon discovers that not is all as it seems on the surface, and comes across the site of a crash landed pod, meeting a mysterious woman.

No more details have been revealed about the project, but it has a ‘War Of The Worlds’ mixed with ‘I Am Legend’ feel to it. Are you excited about this project?
