Netflix unafraid of Warner Bros Studios Facebook movie deal

Netflix has no fear of the new partnership between Facebook and Warner Bros Studios. It was announced that the film studio would be offering movies for purchase or download through Facebook, which has concerned Netflix backers who see this as a major competitive threat.

Even if Warner Bros does start to offer products directly to Facebook users, to convert casual users into active buyers will be a challenge. People who go on Facebook don t tend to look to buy products from their accounts.

The Netflix website looks likely to stay its course, and in the past, caused the demise of Blockbuster and other merchants selling physical DVDs and Blu Rays. As the business model for film distribution changes, so does the route to market, but for now, Netflix shouldn t have to worry about the Facebook movie deal.
