Harry Potter tops international box office again

Harry Potter and the Deathly hallows has topped the  international  box office for a 3rd straight week as audiences flock to see the young wizard get up to his usual antics.

With a darker twist to the lastest outing, fans have been praising the first part of what is the last Harry Potter movie, marking an end to a decade of magic and fantasy for young and mature audiences alike.

With earnings over $54 million at the overseas box office; the latest film has surpassed the $460 million mark, as the Christmas season nears. Harry Potter has helped Warner Bros enter 2nd year on year in the race to get the biggest overseas box office haul.

However as of November, Paramount studios managed to claim $117.5 million in revenues earning the top spot. When 2010 comes to a close, it is likely that Harry Potter will triumph overseas, surpassing its nearest competitor Megamind which opened in 17 territories and has only generated a total of $16 million.

While Harry Potter breaks records overseas, at home, the US box office the film has been overthrown by studio weekend estimates, pushing the film to 2nd place; Animation film Tangled voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi took in an estimated $21.5 million while The Deathly Hallows earned a respectable $16.7 million.
