Actress and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais has been revealed as a new ambassador by The Cybersmile Foundation.

Beauvais, who’s Hollywood career spans over 3 decades, revealed she wanted to “help raise awareness about cyberbullying on a global level” while working with the organization to address online harassment. This follows a targeted campaign of online abuse aimed at Beauvais including her son Jax, who endured hateful comments and offensive messages on social media.

Garcelle Beauvais’ co-stars from RHOBH and the Bravo network issued statements in support of her family and condemned the online abuse they had received. Her son Jax, who was targeted on social media, joined RHOBH in Season 10, and asked for privacy.

Having personally experienced cyberbullying, Beauvais joins a number of celebrities who are helping to raise awareness of the educational tools and support offered by The Cybersmile Foundation. Some of their ambassadors include singer Normani, Jake Zyrus, F1 driver Nicholas Latifi, actor Richard Armitage and golfer Paige Spiranac.

Revealing her desire to lend her voice to Cybersmile’s cause and support people affected by online hate and harassment, Beauvais said, “There are so many people, of all ages and backgrounds, who need useful insight and effective tools for dealing with these types of abusive online situations. My goal is to spread the message that kindness and inclusion are what make the world a much safer space.”

Currently in its 12th season, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is airing on Bravo.
