Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has penned an emotional open letter to his wife and 15-year-old daughter after Donald Trump declared victory following a long campaign to the White House.
Published in Vanity Fair, the Hollywood screenwriter and MasterClass teacher was extremely critical of Trump’s election and what it meant for the country stating that it was a victory for “White nationalists. Sexists, racists and buffoons.”
The Oscar-winning screenwriter behind TV series The West Wing, and hit films including “A Few Good Men” and “The Social Network” was also critical of Donald Trump’s fans, saying that they were “not fans of Jews.” He also said since Trump’s election victory, “Muslim-Americans, Mexican-Americans and African-Americans are shaking in their shoes.”
The open letter quickly became a viral trend on Facebook and Twitter with people sharing their thoughts on the outcome of the election. Prior to November 8, the entertainment industry along with many public figures was openly critical of Trump’s campaign, along with prominent Republicans.

America is clearly divided and those that opposed Trump have been quick to respond to his victory with condemnation, however, his supporters, which include actors Clint Eastwood, Jon Voight, Kirstie Alley and James Woods have praised his triumph.

Aaron Sorkin is currently working on a TV movie adaptation of “A Few Good Men” and also recently launched an online course to teach upcoming screenwriters how to succeed in the business. At the beginning of his career, he was a bartender at the Palace Theatre writing most of his first scripts on cocktail napkins.
