Connor Johnson petitions to save space travel

To boldly go where no man has gone before? 6-year old Connor Johnson has embarked on a mission to save NASA, in order to secure his future as an astronaut who explores space.

The 6-year-old saved just over $10 in his piggybank and donated it to NASA, but, after a sitting down with his parents, he realised he needed a bit more help to make his dream come true.

Connor decided to launch a White House petition to help secure new funding for NASA's future missions, so that the space agency could discover new worlds. Facing billions in cuts, scientists and technologists have warned the future of research and space exploration is in jeopardy :

"..The looming budget adjustment along with all the cuts in recent years sentences America's planetary exploration program to death by starvation."

In order for Connor to get an official response from the Government, he needs to get at least 100,000 signatures. So far, Connor has managed to get close to 20,000 signatures but he needs your help.

The petition asks :

"Increase the funding for NASA so that children can dream of exploring the universe. Science funding is the future of our country."

Check out Connor's interview, where he explains what he's trying to achieve. Can you give him a helping hand?

Perhaps with this kind of thinking, young kids will one day explore the galaxy, but before that happens, funding is needed!
