Warner Bros cancels Paris Dark Knight Rises Premiere

Batman shootings shock cast

Batman's cast of actors including Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard and Anne Hathaway have all cancelled their interviews today in Paris ahead of 'The Dark Knight Rises' French premiere.

In the wake of the Batman shootings Warnerbros has also pulled the plug on the Paris Premiere and issued a joint statement with CNN along with all the filmmakers involved:

"We are deeply saddened to learn about this shocking incident. We extend our sincere sympathies to the families and loved ones of the victims at this tragic time."

In wake of today's shootings, it would not have been appropriate for the Batman cast and crew to celebrate the opening of the film. Celebrities around the world have tweeted their response to the tragedy including the MPAA's Chris Dodd:

"the shock and sadness of everyone in the motion picture community at the news of this terrible event. We extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to the victims, their loved ones and all those affected by this tragedy."

CNN host Piers Morgan was also quick to offer his condolences and raised the issue about gun crime in America:

"Horrendous details from this Colorado cinema shooting. America has got to do something about its gun laws. Now is the time."

Opinion about the massacre:

I believe that there has to be a change in American gun laws because this tragedy will be repeated. The Dark Knight Rises is the biggest film of the year, and this is one of the biggest shootouts in recent history. It's horrific but gun laws are too lax. How can this continue? What message does this send to the world? When will America say "no" to guns?
