Action movie promotion to change?

Action movies like 'Expendables 2', 'The Bourne Legacy' and 'Total Recall' may have to change their promotional materials in light of the Batman tragedy.

It's inevitable that people will look into the details of how violence is marketed before a film is released. The culture of violence we see in movies and video games makes guns more popular and 'cool' to people of all ages.

Check out these trailers to get a taste for the violence, and references to its 'fun appeal'. It's entertaining for sure. We love it, but some in society may be vulnerable to it.

Whatever happens next the film industry will have to consider all its options when promoting their new releases, and even existing films yet to come out. It's too early to make drastic decisions, but the Batman shootings are a painful reminder that there are people out there who can carry out terrible acts.
