New documentary "American 965" raises serious doubts about investigation into 1995 American Airlines 965 crash with vital evidence ignored

Former airline pilot Captain Tristan Loraine has revealed key new evidence that the American 965 crash investigators did not consider in his new documentary entitled “American 965.” Revealing evidence of a system design flaw dating back to the dawn of the jet age, which is known to have impaired and incapacitated pilots, the documentary shares facts about the air we breathe on commercial aircraft and informs audiences about the real dangers to passengers and crews. It also highlights how the industry allegedly knew about these issues for decades but does not share with passengers.

In “American 965,” Loraine also raises serious questions about the potential contamination of the air that pilots and passengers breathe on planes. With more than 19 years of research into the topic, he asks why key evidence was not looked at by the crash investigators.

American Airlines 965 was a Boeing 757 flight from Miami to Cali, Colombia. The flight crashed on December 20, 1995 while on approach when the crew lost situational awareness and the plane flew into a mountainside. 159 people died. Only 4 passengers and a dog survived.

Tristan Loraine, who flew the same aircraft type as in the accident, knew the specific model of aircraft/engine combination had a known problem. He knew crews had made mistakes flying the plane by becoming impaired. A problem that not only ended his career, but a problem that has been investigated by numerous air accident departments globally. Through interviews with other pilots, scientists, doctors, engineers, air accident investigators, survivors, family relatives, as well as individuals who were part of the post-accident crash investigation, the former captain forensically makes the powerful case in his new documentary that the industry failed to or deliberately chose not to explore all possible causes of the accident.

After a career as an airline Captain for British Airways and a union Health & Safety representative, Tristan Loraine re-trained as a director and producer at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in Britain, establishing his award-winning production banner Fact Not Fiction Films in November 2006. Tristan’s years of research into the issues discussed in the film “American 965” earned him a British Citizen Award for services to industry, which he was awarded in 2015 at the House of Lords (UK Parliament). He is also the Spokesperson for the leading global organization dealing with the issue of contaminated air, The Global Cabin Air Quality Executive (GCAQE).

“American 965” is the prequel to his last film “Everybody Flies,” which premiered at the Raindance Film Festival in 2019 and is now a 2021 BAFTA and Academy Award Contender. “Everybody Flies” reveals evidence of an apparent industry cover-up surrounding the controversial contaminated air issue.

The issues at the heart of the film will be discussed at a major four day global conference from 15 to 18 March 2021.
