The film was initially shown in 20 theaters on a limited release but it was seen by less than 1 person per theater on average, gaining just $8.60 per screen and a total of $172 in its first full week. It then went on to gross an additional $48 in its second week, however it was only shown at 1 theater before the title was removed at the end of January.

Tall Tales from the Magical Garden of Antoon Krings” even failed to exceed Christian Slater’s disastrous box office performance in “Playback” which managed to gain a comfortable $264 back in 2012 ($289 when adjusting for inflation).

In comparison to its performance in the U.S., "Tall Tales" managed to earn $1.7 million during its box office run in France and $431k in Spain with generally positive audience feedback. However critics were less generous giving the film a 40% average on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film’s box office performance in America was by far the worst of all international markets. Even in Eastern European countries it managed to make considerably larger returns; grossing $47k in Lithuania and $214k in Poland.
