Action star Sylvester Stallone has admitted that he is catching on, and The Expendables could be his last onscreen performance.
In a recent Q and A at the LA Film Festival, Stallone told the audience, "I now, at my age, approach every film like this could be the last one." The action hero who has starred in the Rambo and Rocky movie franchises is approaching 64, and wants to focus on his directing career in future years. The ultimate ambition is to follow in Clint Eastwood's footsteps and move on to directing films without me having to be in them.
Stallone has written, directed and will star in The Expendables , featuring other big action icons including Arnold Schwarzenegger, his first outing since Terminator 3. The film also stars Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jet Li and Jason Statham.
Earlier this month, THR awarded Stallone with the Key Art Visionary Award, which recognizes his film marketing talents among his other creative inputs outside of the filmmaking process.
The Expendables which comes out in August could be the signature movie that action fans have been waiting for, bringing together for the first time all the onscreen action heroes of the last several decades.
