Kickstarter funded film "Star Trek: Renegades" directed by Tim Russ went live on Youtube this week, set nearly 10 years after Voyager's return.
Tim Russ who plays Tuvok in "Star Trek: Voyager" helmed the fan film which features Adrienne Wilkinson, Walter Koenig (Chekov from the original Star Trek series) and Edward Furlong, who played opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger as John Connor in "Terminator 2."
The film raised over $240,000 on Kickstarter alone and was backed by 2347 supporters. Tim Russ and producer Sky Conway spoke with Film Industry Network about the project before it was funded and prior to the script's completion back in 2012 with ambitious goals to surpass the production standards of their previous outing in "Star Trek: Of Gods and Men."
Producers are now working towards a fundraiser that will support additional episodes following the successful launch of the TV pilot.
