Muso taking the digital piracy battle to the next level

Tackling digital piracy is a primary concern for film studios and producers and now the battle against illegal file sharing has taken on a new turn.

Muso.com, a special online anti-piracy website has launched a new service to help the film industry take down thousands of illegal files thanks to its innovative interface. The site has already been a big success for the music industry offering a low cost browser-based interface allowing rights-holders to scan millions of illegal websites for their titles, and takedown infringing material with the click of a button.

More than a thousand music companies are using their system in-house every day - including Sony RCA, Polydor, PIAS, Geffen, Beggars Group, and the Ministry of Sound.

Over 2.2 million illegal files were discovered in August 2011 alone. The service has so far discovered up to 40% more illegal files online than any other service currently in operation.

“We set out with the simple goal of giving rights holders a straightforward and hugely cost-effective tool to take fast, decisive action in identifying and removing illegal files online. Effective online anti-piracy is so crucial and Muso.com really empowers Studios, distributors and producers to take back control, while ensuring fans get the best online experience possible, and are not presented with poor quality illegal copies.”

- Christopher Elkins, Muso.com

A recent high-profile success is a campaign currently running with XL Recordings for Adele, discovering and removing over17,000 illegal files for the No. 1 artist since January.

“Muso.com is an effective tool that assists us in removing our releases from
a multitude of file hosting services, this is a good thing!”

- Simon Wheeler - Beggars Group / XL

Businesses and individuals can register at www.muso.com for a free 90-day trial and get an instant overview of illegal activity for their titles right now.
