MTV Skins wont be cancelled despite large ratings fall

MTV Skins has faced renewed pressure from the media and the PTC to cancel the show because it promotes underage teenage sex, drugs and alcohol abuse.

The controversial show has lost a string of high profile sponsors but MTV have remained consistent, denying that they have any intetion of cancelling or suspending the show.

While the decision is solely for MTV to make, groups and various critics are likely to be further angered by the line. Despite MTV s apparent cancellation on Fox News, the rumour was denied by MTV s spokesman.

Whether you are for or against MTV s Skins, the show has lost over 50% of its viewership this week. Whether the bad publicity surrounding the show, or its airing just after a Jersey Shore rerun has made it lose viewers, can t be quantified until further ratings are revealed.
