After a parent's TV watchdog condemned MTV Skins, advertisers have been pulling their ads from the show one by one.
In the latest disappointment for the network, Subway announced that they would not include advertising on its second episode. The teen show has been criticized and compared to televised child porn. The show, which delves into drugs, alcohol and teenage sex, faces a child pornography investigation from the US Government after the Parents Television Council started their campaign.
"We will continue to monitor every broadcast and every re-broadcast of 'Skins' so that we can inform the public which corporations are underwriting underage teen sex, underage teen drug use and underage teen alcohol use," PTC president, Tim Winters stated.
The Parents Television Council is a non-partisan education organization advocating responsible entertainment. It was founded in 1995 to ensure that children are not constantly assaulted by sex, violence and profanity on television and in other media. Our national grassroots organization has more than 1.3 million members across the United States, and works with television producers, broadcasters, networks and sponsors in an effort to stem the flow of harmful and negative messages targeted to children.
