James Bond 25 is getting an 'emergency' re-write

James Bond 25 begins shooting in March, but the production has had to hire legendary screenwriter Scott Z. Burns to fix the script - an almost impossible task given he’s never quite available. With the new release date now set for April 2020, the last Bond outing for Daniel Craig appears to be facing serious time pressure to get ready for shooting. As delays bring more production headaches and scheduling constraints, getting A-list talent in place and their crews can be very difficult, especially on a shoot of this scale.

MGM will be releasing Bond 25 on April 8, 2020, but the script is not yet up to standard, and it is understood that Scott Z. Burns, who wrote “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “Contagion” is working in London on it for 4 weeks to get it right.

While script re-writes are not unusual, for blockbuster films with large logistical elements including studio hires, location filming and complex technical requirements, costs can quickly skyrocket with delays.

Daniel Craig will be playing his last outing as Bond in his fifth movie which will begin principal photography at Pinewood Studios March 4th. The studio has also welcomed other high profile productions including ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ and ‘Prometheus’.
