GVN Releasing has acquired the North American rights to "Guilt," the revenge thriller from Lyndsay Sarah and Karl Jenner. Shot entirely on location in Australia, "Guilt" is about a vigilante targeting child abusers who begins to doubt her latest target's guilt, after a mistake from her past is revealed. The film was directed by Sarah and Jenner, who produced along with Joseph Narai and Janet Shay, who is also the lead actress who plays Jessie.
"Guilt" is currently slated for release on all platforms in August 2020. Speaking about the film GVN’s CEO, Geno Taylor, says “Guilt is a great independent film that was well shot and directed.” The film’s producers add, "During these strange and unpredictable times, this great news couldn't be more welcomed. The team behind Guilt are extremely excited for what's to come, and grateful for all the hard work done by Hewes Pictures, in continuing to fight for our film during such a challenging period."
GVN also has acquired North American rights to Markus Castro’s romance psychological thriller "Ghabe," shot in Sweden. The feature follows a Syrian refugee with a haunting past, who falls in love with the grand Swedish forests and the mysterious Moa during the summer of 2015. Produced by Andrew Thompson and Jenny Johansson, "Ghabe" has won several awards including Best Cinematography at the Golden Eye Festival for DP Carl P. Rasmussen as well as Best Cinematography and Best Director at the LA Indie Film Fest. The film also took home Best Actor at the Golden Door International Film Festival.
"Ghabe" will be released on all platforms in September 2020. GVN’s Geno Taylor calls Ghabe “a poetic, arthouse film.” Sales for both deals were negotiated by Hewes’ head of sales and acquisitions Princeton Holt, and GVN Releasing CEO Geno Taylor.
Hewes has begun talks with foreign buyers for both titles.
