LOS ANGELES, USA - Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity starring George Clooney is the most overhyped movie of 2010 and here's why.
Spanning 12 months of endless rumors and involving virtually every major actor in Hollywood, it almost seemed as if the film itself was a fantasy story in the making or an April Fools joke gone OTT.
Earlier in the year Robert Downey Jr was reported to star in the film as the leader of a space exploration team that has to find a way to survive after their spacestation is destroyed by debris. Starring opposite him was Scarlett Johansson, which then changed to Angelina Jolie, then Natalie Portman. However, the casting changed again when Downey Jr decided to drop out along with Natalie Portman only to be replaced by George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.
Still, with George Clooney now supposedly attached to the film as his replacement alongside Sandra Bullock, it seems fitting to have these two actors together in a big blockbuster. However, the story doesn't end there.
While the speculation on whether Gravity will ever get made continues, this kind of fabrication is what makes this cast likely to change again, adding more hype to a film that might have been written on a cocktail napkin and sent to the press as a joke. Although this might be a harsh assessment, films have come and gone in this fashion as they fell apart in pre-production and that is why they are never publicly confirmed until the production is 100%.
While George Clooney fans envisage him in space, the star will definitely be on the ground in The Ides of March , which will begin filming in March in Detroit. The actor will star alongside Ryan Gosling and Evan Rachel Wood in this political thriller.
