Golden Globes 2015 mixes comedy with honor

After a night of laughs and tributes, this season's Golden Globes has come to an end with awards going out to top filmmakers and actors for their work on productions this past year.

Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood' was awarded 'Best Drama' while George Clooney picked up the Cecil B. DeMille Award. 'How to Drain Your Dragon 2' took the top prize in the 'Best Animated Feature' category and Julianne Moore stole the spotlight with her win as 'Best Actress' for 'Still Alice'. 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', an early favorite, won 'Best Picture in a Musical or Comedy'.

Among the celebrations, many stars had brought 'Je Suis Charlie' badges with them to remember those that had died in Paris a few days before. Clooney took to the stage and gave a speech on his love for Amal, joked about the Sony hack, and also reflected on the day's events, closing his speech with a tribute to the people that marched around the world in the name of freedom of expression.

"They didn’t march in protest; they marched in support of the idea that we will not walk in fear. We won’t do it. So, Je Suis Charlie. Thank you.”

During the ceremony Tina Fey and Amy Poehler poked fun and even made a sketch about North Korea. At one point there was a Bill Cosby reference where people got uncomfortable.

HFPA President Theo Kingma was arguably the winner of the standing ovations when he made a reference to the events from the Sony hack to the terrorist attacks on Charlie Hebdo:

"We will stand against anyone who would repress free speech anywhere from North Korea to Paris.."
