ÉCU - The European Independent Film Festival will be back for its 12th edition in 2017, and is now inviting filmmakers to submit their work for its official competition.

Every year, the festival showcases a selection of high-quality films in Paris from shorts to feature length documentaries and music videos. Since its launch in 2006, it has become one of the world’s leading festivals for independent filmmakers and welcomes top producers, film directors, actors and distributors.

“I’m so grateful and honoured. Your festival is an amazing opportunity to celebrate independent films and filmmakers” - Iris Zaki, director of “Women in Sink,” the winner of the Best European Independent Documentary 2016.

Critically acclaimed films that are presented in the official competition often go on to secure TV and distribution deals in international markets. Each year, thousands of filmmakers and cinema lovers come together to attend screenings, participate in Q and As with film directors as well as network at industry workshops. In addition to showcasing films, the festival organizes exclusive after-parties including its famous river boat concert on the Seine where filmmakers can relax, watch live music and tour the city of Paris in style.

ÉCU also promotes selected films on a global tour. ÉCU-On-The-Road has taken official competition films to 77 countries, helping filmmakers get international exposure and reach new diverse audiences. The festival has partnered with many cultural institutions, filmmaking conferences and film schools to showcase independent films. This includes additional screenings and exclusive events at major festivals from Cannes to Berlin.

ÉCU - The European Independent Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its 12th edition which takes place 21-23 April 2017 in Paris, France. Filmmakers can submit their entries via Withoutabox or Film Freeway before December 4th to catch the Early Bird Deadline.
