It will be Karger's first stint on the red carpet for the Academy. His red carpet celebrity chats will be featured on Oscar.com and audible to the hundreds of bleacher fans and arriving guests on the carpet.
Immediately following his red carpet assignment, Karger will cohost All Access for Oscar.com with Suzanne Whang. Karger is also currently featured in Oscar.com's daily Road to the Oscars series, hosted by Chris Harrison.
Karger has been covering movies, TV and music for Entertainment Weekly since 1995. Spearheading Oscar coverage for the magazine and EW.com, Karger has written more than 40 cover stories on subjects ranging from Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Halle Berry, Will Smith and Anne Hathaway to Elton John, Justin Timberlake, and Taylor Swift. He also conducts video interviews with Oscar contenders on EW.com's Inside Movies blog.
Karger contributes to Access Hollywood as a guest correspondent and provides commentary about the Oscars and movie box office. In addition, he serves as the U.S. correspondent for the BBC's flagship movies show, Film 2011.
Academy Awards ® for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center ®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network.
