Cannes: Cinemas du Monde announces schedule

PRESS RELEASE: Under the patronage of Maria de Medeiros and Elia Suleiman, the 2012 Cinémas du Monde Pavilion will give professionals and organisations involved in creating and promoting world cinema the opportunity to meet, work and exchange ideas.

PROGRAMME

FRIDAY 18 MAY: INAUGURATION OF THE CINÉMAS DU MONDE PAVILION

10.30am: Inauguration of the Cinémas du Monde Pavilion, with its patrons Maria de Medeiros and Elia Suleiman, the ten directors selected for the Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde programme, and representatives of the Cinémas du Monde Pavilion: Sylviane Tarsot-Gillery (Institut Français), Alain de Pouzilhac (AEF), Clément Duhaime (IOF), Marie-Christine Saragosse (TV5MONDE) and Etienne Fiatte (CFI).

11.30am: Photocall
12.15pm: Cocktail reception for the press
7.00pm: The Pavilion delegation officially walks the red carpet

SATURDAY 19 MAY:

11am-11.30am: Meeting with the Senegalese director Moussa Touré – La Pirogue, Un Certain Regard – and the film’s team, in the presence of Clément Duhaime, Administrator of the IOF and Marie-Christine Saragosse, Director General of TV5MONDE.

11.30am-12.30pm: International Organisation of la Francophonie (IOF). High-level conference for the effective launch of the Fonds panafricain pour le cinéma et l’audiovisuel (Pan-African Cinema and Audiovisual Fund or FPCA) with its patron, Moussa Touré, and the Ministers of Culture from Benin, Gabon, Côte d’Ivoire, Tunisia and Senegal.

4pm-6pm: Viva Riva by Djo Tunda Wa Munga: a success story. New production and distribution strategies in Africa, in the presence of the director, hosted by Olivier Barlet (Africultures).

SUNDAY 20 MAY:

11am-1pm: Festival del Film Locarno: presentation of the 2012 Open Doors selection.

5pm-6.30pm: Ardèche Images / DOCMONDE: Launch of DOCMONDE, an international development and cooperation platform for creative documentary projects: AFRICADOC (Africa), EURASIADOC (the Caucasus, Central Asia and Russia) and DOCOI (Indian Ocean).

MONDAY 21 MAY:

10.30am-12.30pm: Euromed Audiovisual / INA / Euromed Heritage: MedMem (Audiovisual Mediterranean Memories): audiovisual cooperation actions and results. Preview of the website co-financed by Euromed Heritage 4: Mediterranean television archives soon available online!

TUESDAY 22 MAY:

11am-12.30pm: AfricaFilms.tv-Mobiciné: African VOD, now up and running!
3.30pm-6pm: World Cinema Aid (CNC – Institut Français). Presentation of this new initiative supporting international co-production.

WEDNESDAY 23 MAY:

11am-12.30pm: Cinéma numérique ambulant (CNA): the importance of itinerant cinema in the African film industry.
