“Black Panther” has broken past the $500 million barrier at the box office after just 17 days.

Ryan Coogler’s critically acclaimed directorial debut as Marvel’s youngest ever filmmaker has wowed audiences and continues to break records.

“Black Panther” is now among a select few features that have managed to gross over $500 million, entering the top 10 highest grossing films of all time at the U.S. box office.

Internationally, the superhero movie has grossed close to $400 million and is likely to surpass a global total of $1 billion in the coming week.

Starring Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyongo’o, Michael B. Jordan and Forest Whitaker, “Black Panther” has received a 97% rating by Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have praised Coogler’s direction in creating a blockbuster film with a strong narrative and highly memorable action sequences, with exceptional performances by the film’s cast.
