BECTU Is an independent trade union in the UK representing 25,000 members working in TV, film, theatre and in the wider entertainment industry.
The organisation advocates job protection in the UK film industry as well as providing its members with a host of benefits and product discounts including a reduction in the BFI Membership.
BECTU strives to protect worker jobs in the industry but also to improve salaries, pensions and work conditions. It is run by the National Executive Committee which is elected every 2 years by a secret ballot.

The BECTU website provides a number of tools and resources to help members with their employment including a student register for young people to guide them to make the right choices in the industry. There are also application forms and pdf downloads for different sectors of the entertainment industry including background artistes (extras).
