Every year the Academy Awards recognizes short films giving young as well as established filmmakers a chance to compete for the Best Animated and Live Action short film.
Short films have become more prevalent in the last few years as shorter form content is in high demand on the web. Short films that enter the Oscar nominations are watched closely as they can indicate the next big talent in the film industry.
