20-person film crew hit by train in Wayne County, 1 killed

A tragic accident has resulted in the death of a woman after a film crew were struck by a train as they were filming.

According to WSAV the crew had the proper permissions to shoot in Jesup, Georgia, and were filming scenes for 'Midnight River'.

There is currently an investigation taking place to find out what happened. It is not yet clear why a train was circulating at the time the crew were filming on the track, but the incident occurred around 4pm in broad daylight.

7 other film crew members, part of the team shooting for Meddin Studios, were also reported to have been injured. Their condition at this time has not been confirmed.

Meddin Studios released this statement on their Facebook page following the accident. :

"Our hearts are heavy today, as we continue to keep the entire crew, as well as their families, in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for doing the same."

The train operator also issued a statement immediately after the incident was reported, and made this statement:

"CSX is deeply saddened by a tragedy that occurred late today on a CSX rail bridge in Doctortown, GA and is cooperating fully with authorities as they investigate. CSX personnel are working with first responders to meet the needs of those injured. The train  was en route from Memphis to Savannah when the incident occurred."

The crew were working on the upcoming Gregg Allman biopic and according to Savannah Now, had been on the trestle bridge when the train hit them.
