What Vin Diesel said about his role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

The World Premiere of Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' was a big success yesterday, streamed live to fans around the world, but one particular star was keen to highlight how being part of the Marvel universe was quite special.

Vin Diesel, who recently finished working on 'Fast & Furious 7' took a step back from gritty action to take note about his strange character (animated) in the family friendly adventure movie that analysts are hoping will revive the US box office.

Vin Diesel speaking with reporters at the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' premiere

"It was the strangest character Marvel ever attempted to put on film, and something about that attracted me more to the role. I couldn't have imagined a better scenario because I'm doing two things simultaneously. I am answering the Marvel question in the way that I'm doing a Marvel movie and so all the fans that have wanted me to do something with Marvel are seeing the evidence of that right now, and simultaneously it's the first movie that I've made that kids can see in over 10 years."

At yesterday's premiere, Diesel among other cast and crew members attended a red carpet event prior to the screening, greeting pumped fans eager to see him in a different setting.

'Guardians of the Galaxy' will be released in theaters nationwide August 1st.
