The African-American Film Critics Association has named “Straight Outta Compton” the best film of 2015.

After taking the Box Office by storm with a $60m opening, “Straight Outta Compton” brought the N.W.A back to the big screen to tell the story of their struggle as they climbed to the top of the music business. “Straight Outta Compton” also won in the Best Ensemble category and Jason Mitchell won Best Supporting Actor in the role of Eazy E.
29-year-old Ryan Coogler was also named as the Best Director of the year for “Creed” while Tessa Thompson won Best Supporting Actress. Michael B. Jordan won Best Breakout Performance opposite Stallone. Coogler is now in talks with Marvel to direct "Black Panther" following the success of the movie.
Will Smith triumphed in “Concussion” and was named Best Actor of 2015. Spike Lee’s controversial film “Chi-Raq” was awarded Best Independent Film. Teyonah Parris was also awarded Best Actress of the year.
The annual African-American Film Critics Association Awards ceremony will take place February 10th 2016.
