Star Trek actors Levar Burton and Brent Spiner make history

Levar Burton has managed to raise over $1.5 million on Kickstarter for the 'Reading Rainbow' project, that will bring free education to kids around the world, reviving a popular Children's TV Series.

Burton, along with a comedic cameo from Brent Spiner (Data in ST : The Next Generation) launched the campaign on Kickstarter making a passionate, and positive video about how people can get involved to change education.

The revival of the old series for a new generation of kids has been met with international praise as parents and the general public make small donations to back it.

Burton, who played Geordi La Forge in 'Star Trek : The Next Generation' also encourages fans to make bigger donations to get some cool perks like spending a day with him, getting a skype call, or a retweet.

With over a month to go before the project is financed, this Kickstarter project could break records, and the cause, couldn't be greater.
