Sci-fi drama “Replika,” written and directed by Luc Walpoth has impressed several Hollywood Studios after winning a host of festival awards.
The film tells the story of a young mother who is forced to end the life of her 13-year-old daughter, an android, after a critical malfunction. Set in 2061, a deadly virus has killed half of the world’s population and the only cure renders humans sterile. In order for society to cope, androids are built for couples to have children. Longing for a child, the young mother finds a homeless girl infected by the deadly virus and starts to care for her, but when her husband finds out, she has to make a difficult choice.
Having made the official selection of no less than 30 festivals, the film has impressed several producers at major Hollywood studios who are interested in its potential as a feature. Walpoth is currently writing the script and plans to shoot it in Los Angeles.

Starring Carole Brana, Jérôme Robart, Evaëlle Brocard and Patricia Bopp, “Replika” has won several awards and recently screened at the End of Days festival in Orlando. Filmmaker Klaus Pas, director of “Last Supper for Malthus” also co-wrote the screenplay.
