Short film ‘Missing a Note’ to screen at selected Everyman Cinemas across the UK this September

‘Missing a Note’ is set to screen at Everyman Cinemas across the UK this September, playing before the Downton Abbey feature film that is releasing nationwide.

Filmed on location at Farlington School and Sedgwick Park House in Horsham, West Sussex and starring 'Game of Thrones' actor, Ian McElhinney, musical theatre legend, Elaine Paige OBE and 11-year-old rising star, Darcy Jacobs of Les Misérables West End fame, ‘Missing a Note’ tells the story of schoolgirl, Molly Groves (Jacobs), as she sings before opera legend John O’Connell (McElhinney) in the hope he will write her a good scholarship report. However, John’s diminishing short-term memory means that Molly is in for a few puzzling surprises.

The short film was written and directed by Beth Moran and was made in association with Northern-based charity Dementia Matters.

From its base in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Dementia Matters provides specialist care, support and advice to people living with dementia, their families and carers. The not-for-profit organisation, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary as a registered charity, delivers a variety of services including residential, respite and day care and advice and support to over 300 service users across the North East.

The short film’s distribution in Everyman Cinemas will provide audiences with a closer look at how dementia is impacting lives around the UK and the film’s release will educate audiences about dementia, and provide them with a new perspective from the point of view of a schoolgirl in the story.

“We are very excited to have the opportunity to be screening the short ‘Missing a Note’ from local filmmaker and director Beth Moran. The film will be screening before selected Downton Abbey screenings and we hope this will provide the wide audience it deserves. This important issue is very much close to our hearts as we also partner with local care givers, Home Instead, to provide relaxed screenings for those with memory problems, their partners, family members and carers,” said Rebecca Drees, Venue Manager - Horsham.

“Despite its commonality, there is still a lot that we don’t understand about dementia and the effect that it has across all aspects of a person’s life. Missing a Note short film

Fact Not Fiction Films has produced a number of award-wining films including ‘Ellston Bay’ and recently announced its latest documentary ‘Everybody Flies’ that will have its world premiere later this month during the Raindance Film Festival.
