Rising star Darcy Jacobs wins Best Youth Actor Award at Ignite Film Festival

Rising star Darcy Jacobs has received an award in recognition of her part in the short film ‘Finding Wilson’ at the Ignite Film Festival. She plays the challenging role of a 13-year-old dealing with mental health issues. 

Made with support of Britain’s fastest growing mental health charity The Lucy Rayner Foundation, Jacobs has earned critical praise for a number of recent performances where she has participated in thought provoking short films in a leading role. At the age of just 11, the young actress played opposite legendary singer Elaine Paige and Ian McElhinney in the dementia awareness musical short film ‘Missing a Note’.

For her role in ‘Missing A Note’, she won the Best Young Actress Award at the Birmingham International Film Festival. ’Finding Wilson’ will soon be among the latest Academy Award contenders, following in the footsteps of the previous short. Her latest two film outings have also made the rare achievement of being screened in selected UK Everyman cinemas. ‘Missing a Note’ before the blockbuster ‘Downton Abbey‘ and ‘Finding Wilson’ before Kenneth Branagh’s ‘Belfast’.

In her younger years, Darcy performed in the West End plays ‘Les Miserables’ and the Sam Mendes production ‘The Ferryman’.

Today, aged 15, Darcy Jacobs has just released her first music album and is starring in the short film ‘Angel Fleet’, a film which pays homage to all lost aircrew. The film is being made in association with the world famous UK Glenn Miller Orchestra. Again the role sees Darcy maximise her acting and musical abilities simultaneously.

All three of Darcy’s short films have been produced by Fact Not Fiction Films. CEO Tristan Loraine, stated:

‘Angel Fleet’ will see Darcy perform a live performance with the Glenn Miller Orchestra at New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth on 4th September 2022 – a unique chance for the public to see part of a film being made.
