Quentin Tarantino's annual David Carradine Birthday Tribute

EXCLUSIVE : Quentin Tarantino’s New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood will screen two David Carradine classics to commemorate his birthday on the 8th December.

The Kung Fu star passed away in 2009 and had been a cult figure in more than 100 movies. Carradine was nominated for a Golden Globe in Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill' starring alongside Uma Thurman (Pulp Fiction), Lucy Liu and Samuel L Jackson.

Quentin Tarantino’s 2004 cult hit ‘Kill Bill Volume 2’ and ‘American Reel’ will screen back to back. The special celebration will also include live music from David Carradine’s band ‘The Cosmic Rescue Team’ honoring the actor.

I caught up with Producer and writer Scott Fivelson of ‘American Reel’ to find out more about the screening and to get some insight into David Carradine’s life:

"It's an honor to have American Reel screened on David Carradine's birthday, alongside Kill Bill: Volume Two at Quentin Tarantino's New Beverly Cinema. The thing that David Carradine always said about this film is that it gave him the chance to play a musician -- 'which is what I probably shoulda been' -- he'd say that and laugh. He loved music and songwriting and I think that comes through in the picture. We miss him."

‘American Reel’ will be re-released on DVD by MVD in March 2012.
