Prosecutors want Wesley Snipes in Jail

MIAMA, USA - Time has run out for Blade as US Marshals order Wesley Snipes to serve a 3 year jail sentence.

The action star has avoided going to prison since his sentence for tax evasion was issued back in 2008. At the time, many Wesley Snipes fans actually believed he had already gone to jail, but the star has fought the term ever since whilst on bail.

Athough the actor was acquitted of 5 other charges in the case, he was found guilty of not paying $2.7 million dollars between 1999 and 2001 according to NY Daily News.

Now facing 36 months in jail, it is hard to tell whether the actor will be able to recover from the ordeal once the sentence has been served. After receiving numerous letters of support from hollywood friends including Oscar winning Denzel Washington, the Florida Judge has had no sympathy for the successful actor.

It is unlikely that Snipes will attempt to flee the charge, following the footsteps of acclaimed director Roman Polanski, who left America in 1977 facing a underage sex lawsuit. As the actor has been actively working on movies the past two years, the inevitable, it seems has come, and Snipes will finally go to jail.

Wesley Snipes movies

The action star has had many box office successes including the 1992 hit 'Passenger 57' and starred opposite Sylvester Stallone in 'Demolition Man'. Often persecuted by the law in his movies and proving his innocence such as in US Marshals, the actor has a mixture of martial arts training and uses method acting in all his roles.
