President Obama shocked by Batman tragedy : White House statement

In the aftermath of the Batman shootings, President Obama has issued a statement to the nation:

“Michelle and I are shocked and saddened by the horrific and tragic shooting in Colorado...My administration will do everything that we can to support the people of Aurora in this extraordinarily difficult time.”

Obama went further to offer his support to the community of Aurora that has been deeply shocked by the Batman tragedy. On the eve of the biggest movie of the year, movie fans were getting ready to see their favourite caped hero in action. Superhero movies have become extremely popular in the last few years bringing people together at the cinema. Last night, a gunman threw tear gas at the crowd at a Dark Knight Rises premiere and shot dead at least 12 people, injuring 50. The story continues to make headlines around the world.

“All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors, and we must stand together with them in the challenging hours and days to come.”

Obama's political opponent Mitt Romney also sent out his deepest condolences. All parties have reflected on the sadness of this incident which will remain a topic of discussion in America for quite some time.
