Horsham, United Kingdom - Fact Not Fiction Films, the Sussex based production company behind documentaries such as, “Spitfire Sisters, Little Victorian Secrets and Pilot Fatigue” will soon commence filming a new documentary entitled “The Greatest Race Ever Run.”

The Greatest Race Ever Run will recount the remarkable story of Alfred Shrubb, world champion middle and long distance runner from Horsham, West Sussex, who broke a series of seven consecutive world running records in just one momentous race.

Dubbed “The Little Wonder” and cited by Sir Roger Bannister as “a great runner, …ahead of his time in many ways”, Alfred Shrubb continuously set the standard for world class running and consistently broke and retained trophies and records.

From humble beginnings in the Sussex countryside, to his prestigious appointment as coach to both Oxford and Harvard university running teams, Shrubb defied convention, at a time when competitive running was largely the domain of the wealthy and privileged.

Athlete and adventurer and possibly athletics’ first international celebrity, he eventually faced defeat by a lifetime ban from amateur athletics; Alfred Shrubb, forgotten hero, remains one of the greatest runners the world has ever seen.

Project Manager Sarah Hamson stated:

“Alfred Shrubb’s story transcends the usual tales of sporting achievement; it is an inspirational tale of outstanding sporting excellence, triumph over adversity and unquenchable human spirit.”
