Mel Gibson has come to the defense of Gary Oldman in recent days, but now adds Shia LaBeouf to the list of actors he supports.
After receiving an Award at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, and featuring in a several trailers for upcoming action movie 'Expendables 3', the actor has increased his media presence, and he's also started to speak out about other actors he admires and respects.
Mel Gibson will feature in 'Expendables 3' this August alongside Arnie and Stallone.
Shia LaBeouf has been criticized left and right for some of his outrageous behavior reportedly due to alcohol abuse, and Gibson can relate to it, given that he went through a difficult period to remedy that problem as well.
Speaking with IndieWire in the Czech Republic, Gibson noted:
"When I see someone like Shia LaBeouf with the bag on his head and stuff, my heart goes out to the poor guy. I think he's suffering in some way…Why would he do that? People are in line to sort of point the finger at him and say that he's this, that, or the other. It's easy to judge. But I'm sure he's going through some kind of personal, very painful, cathartic thing....I actually like the kid. I think he's good."
He's not the only actor to come out in support of LaBeouf after his antics. Recently, his 'Fury' co-star reached out via Twitter to support him, and wish him well.
