London Independent Film Festival opens with sold-out screening of ‘The Golden Age’ By FIN Staff / 14 March 2020 © The London Independent Film Festival The London Independent Film Festival got underway on Friday with its opening ceremony and the screening of French drama ‘The Golden Age’. Indie filmmakers descended on London’s Genesis Cinema to take part in the opening festivities which included a red carpet event prior to the screening of debut director Jenna Suru’s period drama set in 1960s France. Despite the impact of the Coronavirus on many London events, this didn’t dampen the spirit of the festival with the screening for the opening film sold-out, and a visibly packed cinema with attendees in a relaxed and joyful mood. After 'The Golden Age' was screened, director Jenna Suru participated in an audience Q&A, and spoke more in-depth about the making of her period drama - sharing her experiences of the production and her vision for the film, which was inspired by the 60s music scene. Suru wrote, directed, produced and starred in the film, and was able to shoot her production in over 30 locations.
