‘Learning to Fly’ – Youngest female to fly with Thunderbirds

Beth Thunderbirds
Fact Not Fiction Films has confirmed that Ms Beth Moran of Horsham, West Sussex, the young female pilot featured in their documentary ‘Learning to Fly’, became the youngest female to fly with the United States Air Force display team – the Thunderbirds on July, 12th 2017.

The documentary follows Beth Moran on her journey to get a Private Pilot’s License (PPL) with Sussex Flying Club at Brighton City Airport and experience a wide spectrum of all things ‘aviation’. The Thunderbirds flight is the pinnacle of the journey.

The media, including the BBC and Channel 5 News, has extensively covered the flight.

Ms Beth Moran stated:

“I am so grateful to the USAF and the Thunderbirds for giving me this incredible opportunity to fly with them. It was an amazing experience to do so many manoeuvres and fly an F-16. A big thank you to Lt. Col. Kevin Walsh who fly my plane, Thunderbird 7, and for encouraging me to get to 9.2G!”

Fact Not Fiction Films producer and former British Airways Captain, Tristan Loraine stated:

“I am personally very grateful to Lt Col Jason A. Heard, the USAF Commander/Leader of the Thunderbirds for making this happen. The Thunderbirds could not have been more professional, welcoming and thoughtful. They gave Beth a day she will never forget and helped us make a documentary we hope will encourage many others to learn to fly.”
