Lars Von Trier discusses Hitler and porn in Cannes

Lars Von Trier is the butt of jokes for having accidentally made his ‘allegiance’ to Hitler and speaking about making a porn film with Kirsten Dunst.

The outspoken director was at the Cannes Film Festival today promoting his latest movie ‘Melancholia’ when he started to ramble on in a disorganized fashion. French reporters were quick to poke fun, but others were not laughing.

His comments have been taken far out of proportion, but it just goes to show that a little positive commentary for Hitler can go a long way to fueling a PR disaster.

Following the incident, the festival summoned the director about the disturbing comments, and he soon released an apology. However, the damage is already done with TV skits in France mocking his Hitler and Porn dialogue.

Have you been offended by his remarks?

Lars Von Trier Q and A

"I really wanted to be a Jew, and then I found out that I was really a Nazi, because, you know, my family was German."

Responding to questions about Hitler

"He's not what you would call a good guy, but I understand much about him, and I sympathize with him a little bit. But come on, I'm not for the Second World War, and I'm not against Jews…I am very much for Jews. No, not too much, because Israel is a pain in the ass."
