On March 9th, 1997, The Notorious B.I.G (Christopher Wallace) was found shot four times in Los Angeles and the shooting was subsequently investigated for several decades without anyone ever being formally charged.

His murder was linked to that of Tupac Shakur which occurred 6 months prior and was at the height of the East Coast–West Coast hip hop feud in the mid 90s. Both rappers were pivotal in shaping hip hop culture in America, and their deaths received global media attention.
