James Franco gets owned by 'Spring Breakers' producer : He's a "sequel junkie"

James Franco publicly condemned the 'Spring Breakers' sequel and warned everyone not to come near it but he was quickly rebuked in Cannes by the producers.

Speaking with Variety, Chris Hanley fought back Franco's comments with his own:

"he’s pushing hard to help set up the ‘Pineapple Express’ sequel."

Hanley then went further to point out the painfully obvious list of movies Franco has been involved with that happen to be sequels. (See below)

He then went a step further (clearly he wasn't going to give him a slap on the wrist) saying:

"Franco is a sequel junkie in his own reality, embracing the too big to fail studio system that is his meal ticket to dilettante artistic side shows, while he glibly attacks real independent filmmakers"

Hanley's rebuke stems from Franco's public vent on Instagram about how the new movie was set up without his consultation and that it would be a "posion ship" designed to "make money off someone else's creativity."

While the success of 'Spring Breakers' will certainly be high point in Franco's career, it's not yet clear why the actor is so against the new sequel given that he has been involved with more mainstream sequels than most actors.

Speaking with GQ James Franco spoke about the sequel to 'Pineapple Express 2' stating:

"As far as why Pineapple Express 2 has not been made for real, I don’t know what the holdup is. I would do it, Danny [McBride] would do it, Seth [Rogen] would do it. I think Seth and Evan [Goldberg] just need a fire lit under their asses."
