Lostprophets' lead singer Watkins guilty

In a shock u-turn, Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins has pleaded guilty to multiple sex offences carried out in recent years, including the attempted rape of an infant.

The Lostprophets, formed in 1997, have sold more than 3 million records worldwide and were part of the 'nu-metal' music wave that gripped the UK towards the end of the 90s.

Police had uncovered evidence from data stored on laptops and in the cloud that lead to today's verdict. This included possession of indecent images, and extreme pornographic material. According to the BBC, the singer had filmed himself having sex with a 16-year-old girl, and accepted in court that he was "a determined and committed paedophile."

Some of the evidence was deemed to be so graphic, that it was not possible to report on it.
