Homeland security issues statement following movie theater threat

In the wake of the latest threat against movie theaters from Sony hackers, an official from the Department of Homeland Security has issued a statement.

Earlier on Tuesday, 32000 Sony emails were released along with increasingly alarming threats from the hackers, possibly tied to North Korea.

With a public threat of violence against audiences going to movie theatres watching 'The Interview', the DHS stepped in to comment about the apparent threat.

"….at this time there is no credible intelligence to indicate an active plot against movie theaters within the United States.”

This comes as Sony's share price has fallen dramatically in the past week, and theatrical businesses have also seen some volatility in stock prices.

The serious nature of the latest threats has led to the cancellation of all media interviews with Seth Rogen and James Franco. The reason for this is not clear but we are speculating that the nature of the latest leaks has had a direct impact, and producers are likely very wary of the potential public backlash if they are seen as putting their cast at risk.
